Understanding and testing LTE vulnerabilities

Continuous R&D support and innovation make LTE and its evolution appealing for a wide range of applications and services. In addition to high-capacity and high-mobility, future mobile broadband systems will also need to have high-availability to support mission-critical applications and flexibility to support new spectrum management paradigms. Researchers at Wireless@Virginia Tech have been investigating the vulnerabilities of LTE by analyzing its behavior in different signaling environments that can be expected in future deployments, such as AWS-3 and the new 3.5 GHz band. This presentation will present our methodology, testbeds, tools, and trials for analyzing the performance of LTE to targeted RF interference.
