Seminar: 5G New Radio – The new Communication Technology for Automotive. Detroit, MI
April 10 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm EDT
Past decades have seen tremendous development of mobile technologies. As the technologies have evolved, it has become customary to indicate them with a generation number, e.g. 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G (the latest generation).
Initially, the new generations referred broadly to significant changes in the underlying technologies and methods in the aim of providing more reliable and efficient communications, e.g. the physical access technologies have changed from TDMA to CDMA to OFDMA. The new 3GPP radio access technology is designated as “New Radio”, which is based on OFDMA.
But 5G NR is much more than just a new radio, it paves the foundation for new services like eMBB, mMTC or URLLC with its flexible radio interface and new infrastructure concepts like e.g. network slicing.
As one big vertical of 5G the automotive sector sets new stakes in requirements and use cases. This seminar will provide an overview of the communication entering the automotive world. What are the key technologies LTE-V or 802.11p based standards? How can 5G NR enhance those services and use cases. Finally an outlook is given on how 5G NR will potentially be used in the vehicle of the future.
